Hot Takes | Tom Sandoval Court Filing, Perez Hilton, and TomTom For Sale
Tonight's Episode
The Perez Hilton item is a mental health emergency, not a snap. Perez Hilton Snaps
TomTom is not closing. Tom Tom Closing
The Sandoval item is a court filing, not a joke. Tom Sandoval Small Penis
This week's Hot Takes covers three stories that landed within days of each other, and each one says something about how fast a real event becomes content.
First, Tom Sandoval. In a new declaration filed in his ongoing restraining order case against former girlfriend Victoria Lee Robinson, Sandoval alleges she physically assaulted him and made repeated comments attacking his manhood. Robinson denies the allegations. Within hours, the filing was pulled out of its legal context and turned into a meme cycle, with the joke landing almost entirely on Sandoval's body rather than on the substance of what he alleged. Elle and Kat sit with the uncomfortable part of that. These are unproven claims on both sides and the court will sort them out. But the speed at which an abuse allegation became a punchline is worth naming, especially given how differently the internet handles those claims depending on who is making them.
Second, Perez Hilton. On Tuesday night, deputies with the Miami Dade Sheriff's Office responded to his Florida home after multiple viewers called about a livestream. His family and his team confirmed Wednesday that he is receiving medical care. Perez has spent years on a public apology tour for the way he covered celebrities in the two thousands, which is part of why this one is landing so heavily. Elle and Kat handle this one carefully and go no further than what is confirmed. The conversation is about the gossip industry itself, about the audience that watched in real time, and about what happens when a man who built a career on other people's worst moments has one of his own broadcast live. This is not a punchline and we are not treating it as one. If you are struggling, you can call or text 988 in the United States.
Third, TomTom. Despite what is circulating, TomTom is not closed. The West Hollywood restaurant has been listed for sale since March through Urbanlime Real Estate and Zacuto Group, and this week crews removed the PUMP branding from the building and the front gate, returning the space to a single TomTom identity. Ken Todd told TMZ the two brand setup had become confusing. PUMP itself closed a few doors down three summers ago. The business remains open and remains on the market. Elle and Kat get into what it means that a decade of Bravo exposure is now marketed as an asset, with intellectual property, social accounts, furniture, and goodwill all itemized in the listing, and what that says about the shelf life of a franchise landmark once the cameras move on.
Three stories, one throughline. Everything becomes inventory eventually.
