Every September 30, podcasters and listeners around the world mark International Podcast Day. It started in the summer of 2013, when podcaster Steve Lee heard a radio ad for National Senior Citizens' Day and wondered why podcasting had no day of its own. Alongside his son and cohost Dave Lee, he launched National Podcast Day in 2014, and it soon went global. Organizers went on to live stream hundreds of hours, spotlighting independent podcasters from nearly 100 nations. Elle shares from the heart why that matters for a show like this one: independent podcasts grow because listeners share them, and the Edittors have carried this feed all the way to three Black Podcasting Awards nominations.
